This morning I joined a bunch of others at Mt Eden to formally kick off the Challenge. It was a thrill to meet George and Alex Hillary, Sir Ed's grandsons. Great guys, and obviously very dedicated to the Nepal cause. This is me with George.
After a chat we headed out to do circuits of Mt Eden. It's one of my favourite places to walk in the city, so familiar territory for me, although frustratingly it's not as high as I thought it was! Managed to do six summits before the sun was getting a bit much.
Total climb was 524m according to Fitbit and I added in a bit more on the way there and back for a total of 664m. I've to keep up about 300m of climb per day, so that's an OK start. Of course the official Strava timer has a different opinion, so I only register 561m grumble grumble.
