Day 25 Summit Challenge complete

My learning from the previous day was that I don't need to make it too complicated. Accordingly I set out to complete ten circuits from car park to summit at One Tree Hill again.

Frustratingly I forgot to charge my Fitbit before setting out, so I had to double back after two laps to get charged so that I could fully record the whole climb. Hence my Fitbit doesn't show all ten laps together, but here's eight of them. The longer pause after the fifth one is me returning to he car to top up on water - as all of the drinking fountains in the park are now closed off.

This delayed my completion by several hours, and I was slightly concerned about being challenged when a Police squad car cruised by. However there were sill plenty of people around the park when I gratefully returned to my car. So that's my challenge complete. I will leave my Fibit connected so that I can add a bit to the total before the end of March.

The last 800 metres of the real Everest climb are the toughest, partly because of the conditions but also because its the most technically challenged part of the climb for mountaineers.

I haven't been there myself, but videographer Elia Saikaly has, and he created this amazing video which gives you some idea of what it's like.
